EXPRESSION OF CONCERN, EMPATHY AND CONDOLENCES OVER COLLAPSE OF BUILDING IN JOS METROPOLIS.

I have received with shock the news of the collapse of a three storey building in Jos metropolis leading to the dead of ten persons and several others injured.

My heart goes out to families of the casualties and the entire community over this disastrous and tragic development.
As we mourn the dead, I wish those receiving medical attention in hospital quick recovery.

This unfortunate incident also calls for attention by regulatory agencies like the JMDB to ensure that all property developers comply with the required and applicable standards to avoid similar occurrence in future.

Also of concern is the need for the capacity of NEMA as a first responder to be strengthened for prompt and effective response in times of emergency.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace, amen.

Senator I. D. Gyang.
