PDP National Secretariat Writes Plateau INEC, Security Agencies on Reconstitution of Plateau PDP SEC to Caretaker Committee

The National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has written the Plateau State Resident Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Plateau State Director of State Security Services, Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Vice Chairman North Central Zone of PDP, Rt. Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan stating the decision of the NWC to reconstitute the Plateau State Executive Committee Members into State Caretaker Committee following the expiration of their 4 year tenure and the non conduct of State Congress due to the COVID-19 pandemic which made government place certain restrictions including public gathering.

The decision the letter stated became necessary due to the present global health challenge and in pursuant to Section 29(2)(b) and 31(2)(e) of our great party’s Constitution (2017 as amended) which approved the reconstitution of the current State Executive Committee Members of your State into State Caretaker Committee.

Accordingly, the current Exco Members upon the expiring of the tenure act as Caretaker Committee to run the affairs of the Party until a new State Executive Committee is elected; provided that they shall not serve in such capacity for more than 3 Months from May 10th, 2020.

This was contained in a letter signed by the National Organizing Secretary of the party, Col. Austin Akobundu (Rtr) to INEC and the mentioned security agencies.

The letter urged the security agencies and electoral umpire to accord them the necessary support and cooperation needed for the success of the assignment.
