Hon. Simon Mwadkwon PhD Peace & Unity Soccer Tournament Starts on a Thrilling Note

With the aim of building peace and solidifying unity in Barkin Ladi, Riyom Local Government Areas, Plateau State and by extension Nigeria , Hon. Simon Mwadkwon PhD Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency Plateau State has kicked off a Peace & Unity Soccer Tournament in his Constituency.

The opening ceremony of the tournament which held at Barkin Ladi Local Government Playground under the distinguished Chairmanship of the immediate past Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Da Sen. Jonah David Jang, CON was well attended by traditional rulers, religious leaders, political figures across the State, youths, women and sports’ lovers.

Hon. Simon Mwadkwon PhD in his remark said the aim of the tournament is to foster peace, unity and harmonious living as well as hunt talents among the youths who are to be trained to achieve their dreams in football.

He promised to give special attention to youths development avenues through strategic human capital development in order to help the youths to be skilled and useful to themselves and society.

He said with the local organizing Committee having professionals, he is sure that the sky is the starting point of the platform.
He said another aim of the tournament is to get the youths and people engaged so that they can stay away from drugs, other substance abuse, indecent and ungodly lifestyles.

He called on the players to take the event serious and said he is ready to sponsor those who are discovered to be skillful and talented.

He said seeing the players who belong to diverse tribes, religious and ethnicity, it us an attestation that the aim of the tournament will be achieved.
He called on the youths to focus on developing themselves, promoting peace, nation building and discard divisive tendencies.

He said he has been able to assist Hon. Kim Chong register a Football club and with his Soccer Academy as well as being a FIFA Agent, he is ready to import and export players for international use.

The Federal Lawmaker said the winner of the tournament will get a Million Naira cash Prize, second place is to get N200,000 and N100,000 to the third place as well as other consolation prizes.
He called on them to be serious and discipline promising to bring International Footballers such as Emmanuel Babayaro and others to witness the final of the tournament.

He called on the people to leave the ugly past behind, promote peace by embracing one another saying without peace, no progress or development can be achieved. Dr. Mwadkwon said there is no alternative to peace.
He thanked Da Sen. Jang for giving him the political platform which made him showcase his love for sports through the building of a Stadium consisting of football pitch, basketball court, track, Volleyball Court, Lawn Tennis Court, ICT Centre etc in Riyom Local Government which is not being utilized

A Member of the organizing Committee, a global Footballer and former Super Eagle Player, Mr. Sam Pam appreciated the Dr. Simon Mwadkwon for the well thought and idea of creating the platform and called on others to emulate him by creating credible platforms that are aimed at human development.
He said their goal is to get a National Football Team and said all have been put in place for a successful tournament. He said they are not ready to compromised integrity, set rules and credibility.
He said the platform has long term plans it intend to achieve which will benefit the State and Nation at large.

Chairman of the occasion and former Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Da Sen. Jonah Jang who was represented by his former Chief of Staff, Da Francis Bot commended the Lawmaker for the impressive idea of the unity soccer tournament considering the insecurity that has caused setback to the Constituency, created suspicion and distrust and hindered development.

He admonished the teams not to only focus on the cash reward but the unity and talent hunt aims of the tournament.

Sen. Jang described the Federal Lawmaker as a visionary Representative who knows the plights of the people and working tirelessly to alleviate them.

Those who attended the opening ceremony include Da Sen. Dr Jonah D. Jang who was represented by Da Francis Bot, Senator Plateau North Barr. ID Gyang represented by Hon. Emmanuel Loman, Hon. Timothy Golu, Hon. Timothy Dantong, Member Riyom Constituency, Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Musa Agah, member Representing Rukuba/Iregwe Constituency, Hon Haruna Musa, Hon Chocho PDP Organizing Secretary, Hon. Joshua Chong, Hon. Titus Danja, Barkin Ladi, and Riyom, PDP Chairmanship Flag bearers, Royal Fathers Present were the Gwom-Rwei Ropp, Da Edward Gyang, the Ward Head of Marit-mazat, youths, women and Football Fans/Well wishers.
