It is often said that what a man can do, a woman can do better. This age long truth epitomizes the true nature of happenings in Plateau politics when names such as Dame Pauline Tallen, Hon Beni Lar, our very own Hon Barr Alice Dimlong of PKK and a few other women are mentioned in everyday political discourse.

Inspite of the fact that the name of many women seldom ring loud in the political space due to the enormous challenges that characterize women participation in politics, the few that have been able to push their ways through the ranks in the midst of the wild and daunting challenges have been able to make their marks on the sands of times.

Women who participate in politics have had to swim against the tides in an ocean raged by storm and surrounded by sharks and crocodiles. Against all odds, the likes of Hon Barr Alice Dimlong have stopped at nothing to pull through in order to get to the top of the chain to ensure that enough dividends of democracy flow to the people at the grassroots.

Hon Barr Alice Dimlong’s political sojourn began in the Plateau State House of Assembly when she was elected to represent the good people of Pankshin North Constituency from 2015-2019. She attempted to return in 2019 but just like Abraham Lincoln, the father of modern day democracy, she suffered a temporary setback. This setback however did not deter her as that was only meant to test the depth of her strength, focus and determination. Hence, just like Winston Churchill, she understands more than ever before, from the lessons learnt, that success is not final, failure is not fatal; what counts is the ability to continue.

At the age of forty-five, Hon Barr Alice Dimlong’s remarkable achievements in life and in politics has endeared her to many a people of her immediate constituency, Pankshin local government and the whole of PKK to the admiration of the lovely citizens of Plateau state and Nigeria as a whole.

Given her compassionate heart and excellent spirit, Hon Barr Alice Dimlong is a rising star in Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam federal constituency. She is indeed a blessing to PKK. In her, you can see a great future for all of us in PKK and beyond. She is a force to reckon with in 2023 and in the coming political dispensations. We the good people of PKK cannot afford to waste the asset in this rare gem.

She is indeed an icon. A life well celebrated. A symbol of hope and a source of inspiration to the young women who constitute the credible silent voice that is about to be heard. At the age of forty-five, we are proud to celebrate with her. We pray for more blissful years ahead as she dedicates her life to the service of humanity through politics.
