Dubai Should Have Extradited Hushpuppi to Nigeria – Lawyer

Gal Pissetzky, counsel for 37-year-old Nigerian fraudster and Instagram celebrity, Ramon Abbas Olorunwa aka Hushpuppi, has claimed that his client should have been extradited to Nigeria, his country of citizenship.

The Chicago-based lawyer claims Hushpuppi was “kidnapped” from Dubai by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

According to the BBC, Pissetzky on Friday said, “In my opinion, the FBI and the government here acted illegally when they kidnapped him (Hushpuppi) from Dubai without any legal process to do so.

“There was no extradition, there were no legal steps taken, there were no court documents filed, it was simply a call to the FBI. He is not a citizen of the United States, the US had absolutely no authority to take him.

“If Dubai wanted to expel him, they should have expelled him back to Nigeria. I’ve never heard of anything like that. That is the real story here.”

Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai in June alongside 12 other members of his crew. They were accused of committing crimes outside the UAE, including money-laundering, cyber fraud, hacking, criminal impersonating, scamming individuals, banking fraud and identity theft.

They reportedly stole 1.6 billion Dirham (over $434 million).
