Complaints and objections trail APC councillorship primaries in Plateau

Controversy is trailing Saturday’s councillorship primary elections of the APC in wards across all the 17 local government areas of Plateau State.

The primary elections had led to resentment among members of the party, particularly in Shendam LGA where sharp disagreements were reported.

Reports also coming from Kanam, Jos South and Jos East, among other local government areas revealed that the exercise was marred by allegations of impositions of candidates chosen by some party officials.

A member of the party, Jamilu Kabiru, who is the Chairman of Polling Unit 012 in Yelwa East Ward of Shendam, alleged that the leadership of the party in the area was the cause of the crisis.

He said there was serious misunderstanding at Yelwa, Shendam B. Kwapkilik and Yelwa West wards where elections were suspended for security reasons.

Also, a group of concerned APC members in Jos South, who spoke to Journalists on phone, said there was pandemonium that led to injuries and suspension of the primary election in the ward.

But the state Secretary of party, Bashir Musa Sati, said the primaries were successfully and peacefully conducted.
