BURIAL OF CORPSE FOUND IN BATTLEFIELD SPARKS ROW IN JOS

Crisis was averted yesterday in Jos North, Plateau State, as the Hausa community disagreed with Irigwe natives on where a body of Irigwe man found on battlefield would be buried.

Remains of the young Irigwe man was found yesterday around the Hausa settlement of Angwan Miango in Rikkos, Jos North, which houses both the Hausa and Irigwe people.

We gathered that the young man had lost his goat on Sunday and went in search of it, but also lost his life in the process.

When the dead body was found, the family only insisted that it must be buried where it was found because the place is a battlefield. But the Hausa objected, and that led to throwing of stones by the two parties.

As each group went to mobilise for war, security personnel intervened and calmed the situation.
