World Children’s Day: Voice for the Girl Child Foundation Celebrates Children Across the World

WORLD CHILDREN’S DAY

We write to join the world to celebrate children all over the world. The Voice for the Girl Child Foundation has worked and is still working in the area of child’s development and the protection of children’s rights in Plateau State, Nigeria and Africa. Children are blessings to the world and must not be neglected nor rejected, they must not be abused nor used because an injury to the World’s child is injury to our future.

“This year is extra special as it marks 30 years of the Convention on the Rights of the Child – 30 years of child rights that have helped transform children’s lives around the world. A time to celebrate and a time to demand action. Kids are taking a stand around the world to say: it is time for every child, to have every right.”… UNICEF

Today, the world must rise to its responsibilities to protect the rights of children, every adult must be aware of the needs of children in our environment, which is basically to protect them and improve their welfare. As the World’s population increases without the proper tools for child’s right protection, it may be somewhat difficult for everyone to be an actor in this regard, hence, we urge the main actors in child’s right protection to join hands and bring about a lasting solution to the challenges that face children all around the world.

These Challenges include:

  • Poor Education.
  • Molestation.
  • Poor Health Care
  • Child labour and exploitation
  • Poor and harmful cultural practices
  • Poor security
  • Poor parenting

The challenges above are overwhelmingly pressing in our society, steps might have been taken to prosecute offenders in this regard but our attitude is still poor towards children because the modern society is facing individualism as opposed collectivism which our traditional societies were known for.

Finally, we plead that today onward the energy that children put to bring sustainability will be appreciated.
