The Speaker of PLHA Rt. Hon Abok Ayuba has been put on trial in the court of public opinion on facebook, but how true are the allegations?

Quick Notice: Tomorrow Wednesday 20th May 2020, ViewPointNigeria’s reporter Dakwom Longgul shall be interviewing the speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly to ascertain the veracity of the allegations being peddled about his person. In the mean time, below is an opinion piece written by our reporter on the same subject.

=================
To say these are troubling times for the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, is an understatement.
Certain individuals have come up with unfounded and unsubstantiated allegations against the person of the speaker –and even though these allegations have not been validated or confirmed true, the person of the speaker is already on trial online in the court of public opinion by facebook keyboard warriors.

The originator of calumny appears to be one Luka Danboyi, who on 17th May 2020 made a facebook post, casting aspersions on the character and public service record of the speaker.

See Danboyi’s posts at: https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=abok&epa=SEARCH_BOX

Some of the allegation levelled against the speaker, include:

  1. taking a N5 million cut from the purchase of cars for the State House of Assembly (cars purchased said to be worth N1.3 billion).
  2. Undertaking anti-party activities (working with the PDP) and
  3. sponsoring friends from opposing parties to view for the PYC chairmanship seat.

ViewPointNigeria has since reached out to Luka Danboyi to have a parley with him, but the account appears to be fake –in addition, our reporter reached out to Danboyi’s facebook friends to see if anyone actually knows him in person but none of them could actually confirm knowing him.

ViewPointNigeria’s take on this issues is that even though these allegations appears to be being peddled by faceless individuals and that the points have not been backed by any evidence, we assess that such allegations could indicate deep troubles for the speaker because it may suggest that a coup is being planned.

You’d recall that this is not the first time moves are being made to oust the speaker on such charges –a few months back the same campaign of calumny was undertaken which almost led to the end of his speakership. However, he was subsequently backed by the party which made useless the plot to oust him. With this new twist, ViewPointNigeria’s analyst assess that some house of assembly members are disgruntled by his leadership style and are scheming to oust him.

To get the facts of the matter, ViewPointNigeria’s reporter will tomorrow Wednesday 20th May 2020 have an interview with the speaker to ask pointed questions about what is happening.

Stay with ViewPointNigeria.
