Eid il Adha 2019

I heartily rejoice with the Muslim umma, both far and near, on this special celebration of
the “festival of sacrifice”.

The “Bakr-Eid” rightly commemorates the selfless life of the prophet Ibrahim who was willing and ready to offer his son as a sacrifice to demonstrate his dedication to God.

May we use this test of the prophet’s faith to also renew our devotion to God. There should be no price too high to pay to attain righteous governance, true dispensation of justice and bringing relief and happiness to the citizens of our nation.

I pray that our prayers,
animal sacrifice, charity, social gatherings, festive meals and sharing of gifts at this period will strengthen our bond of unity and care for one another.
