In her bid to bring succour, ameliorate the hardships being faced and encourage her Constituents in Sabon Gida Langtang South LGA, Plateau State whose houses were destroyed by flood, the Member representing Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Beni Lar today delivered relief materials to Victims of the flood that ravaged the community.

Presenting the relief materials, Rep. Beni Lar disclosed that she was touched by the level of destruction and was moved with empathy to assist them immediately with what will address their immediate needs. She sympathized and empathized with the people over the flood saying she is also affected.

She posited that though the devastating impact of the flood was huge and disturbing, urgent steps are already being taken to address the challenge to forestall future reoccurrence.
She charged the affected victims and people of the community to remain steadfast in God and prayerful despite the ugly predicament.
She said she is with them in empathy in their trying moment.

She thanked God for sparing the lives of the people as no life was lost despite the horrific experience. She admonished them to show love towards each other and accommodate those whose homes were completely destroyed.

Hon. Beni Lar called on the Local, State and Federal Governments through the relevant agencies to intervene in order to address the plights of the people who are peasant farmers and have lost every means of livelihood.

In his remark, the Member representing Langtang South Constituency at the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Sohchang Zingtim said as a Representative of the people he was deeply affected by the situation of the people but glad that no life was lost.
He said he will move a motion to that effect and mobilize the necessary supports to those affected. He urged them to remain positive even in their trying moments.

The Ponzhi Sabon Gida, Chief Magaji Bamaiyi Fakdul appreciated Hon. Beni Lar for identifying with the people in their trying moment and the relief materials distributed to the people describing her as a worthy Daughter who always has the Constituents at heart.
He said though the experience is bad, they appreciate God for His divine protection to the people.

He called on Government at all levels and well spirited individuals to come to the aid of the people who he said lost property and farm produce worth millions of Naira.

Two of the Beneficiaries of the relief Materials whose houses were completely destroyed; Mr Lachak Miri & Mrs Teldir Ritim who could not hide their tears lauded the humanitarian gesture of the Federal Lawmaker and commended her for her swift intervention to their predicament. They prayed God to keep and uplift her in order to continue with the good works she is doing.

Over 30 Houses and farmlands were destroyed by the flood which overflowed the Bank of Sabon Gida Dam after a heavy downpour on 1st September, 2020.

The items donated were Bundles of Zincs, Food Items, Mattresses & Buckets.
