Race for presidency hots up, as El-Rufai’s associates open campaign office in Jos

Nasiriyya Organisation Support Group loyal to Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has opened a campaign office in Jos, Plateau State, ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The new development is coming barely a month after some close aides to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the ruling party, unveiled Tinubu’s campaign office in Osun State.

The Chairman of the group, Ibrahim Garkuwan-Rijau, during the official opening, said that the early move is to enable them to fully drive their request to success, adding that the structures of the group would soon be launched across the country.

“In the North we have started late. If in Lagos State people started calling and supporting Malam Nasiru to contest, why can’t we do it here?” Garkuwan-Rijau said.

Speaking in the same vein, the Plateau State chairperson of the group, Nafisatu Omar, described Mr El-Rufai as a detribalized and non-religious bigot suitable for Nigeria’s number one job.

“Malam Nasir El-Rufai is the best person for Nigeria in 2023 because he is not corrupt, he is not a religious bigot, not tribalistic as seen in his governance of Kaduna State, embracing everybody,” she said.

Apart from El-Rufai, Tinubu is also said to be nursing an ambition to succeed Buhari come 2023 but they have not come out to announce their bids.
