FG claims that 30,672 Plateau households captured for FG’s N5,000 monthly payment

About 30,672 households in six out of 17 local government areas of Plateau state have been captured and would soon receive the Federal Government’s N5,000 monthly stipends, an official says on Thursday.

This was disclosed by the National Coordinator, National Social Safety Net Programme, (NASSCO), Mr Apera Iorwa, during a press conference at the Plateau State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) in Jos yesterday.

Mr Iowa explained that the 30,672 households were made up of 77,735 poor and vulnerable individuals that consisted of 35,633 males and 42,102 females.

He said, “So far in the six local governments (in Plateau state) that we have started the capturing, we enumerated 30,672 households which is made up of about 77,735 individuals; we captured households and each households with families you have husband, wife and the children.

“We have about 35,633 males, 42,102 females and out of these figures about 5,403 were people living with disabilities.”

Daily Trust gathered that the six local governments that were captured so far include Bassa, Bokkos, Jos East, Kanke, Langtang North and Wase.

Mr Iowa assured that the selection process of capturing the household was transparent.

He said, “We captured the households through a very transparent process, we called it a community targeting process; it was a process where the community people sit and identified the poor and vulnerable people among themselves. It is from that we registered them into the social service registers.”

He added that the payment of N5,000 monthly stipends was also part of National Social Investment programme initiated by the federal government to reduce poverty.
