EFCC Vs. Jang: Plateau Chief Judge Reassigns Case to Justice Christine N. Dabup

The Plateau State Chief Judge, Justice Yakubu Dakwak on Tuesday 7th January, 2020 reassigned case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against, Sen. Jonah David Jang and a cashier in the office of the Secretary to the Plateau State Government, Mr. Yakubu Pam to Hon. Justice Christine N. Dabup following the return of the case by Justice Daniel Longji who retired having served the statutory 35 years with Plateau State Government.

Justice Longji retires from service on Tuesday 31 December, 2019 after ruling on the “No case submission” which the defendants said they would appeal.

Senator Jang and Yusuf Pam are standing trial in a 12-count charge brought against them by the EFCC which alleged that Jang, who served as Plateau Governor between 2007 and 2015, misappropriated fund to the tune of over N6 billion, two months to the end of his tenure as Governor through Pam, who served as cashier in the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

With the reassignment of the case to Justice Dabup, it means the case is starting afresh and hearing notices from the new Judge’s Court to be issued soon.

Justice Dabup of the Plateau State High Court to many is an upright Judge and one of the outstanding Judges with impeccable character, who is believed will dispense the right judgment in the case.
