Despite lack of salaries, ASUU Unijos Prepares members for resumption amidst the second wave of covid-19.

The leadership of the academic staff union of universities ASUU, University of Jos branch organizes a two days pedagogical seminar to prepare its members towards resumption slated for 22nd of January, 2021

The seminar is focused on pedagogical skills in the covid-19 era for effective classroom knowledge innovation. The branch chairperson, Comr. Luka L. Maigoro states that the objective is to build capacities of various knowledge innovation skills in the covid-19 pandemic era, equipping lecturers with new evaluation skills to cope with covid 19 challenges through available skills in ICT for knowledge dissemination.

Resource persons are seasoned academicians of international repute, among the resources persons include prof Timothy oyetunde a former dean of postgraduate school, university of Jos. Who deals with the discourse of methodology in the covid 19 era, associate prof. Abas Mustapha, who took an aspect of how to manage class anxiety in the covid era and Mr Joel Gogwim who explains different component of ICT platforms to use in the covid-19 pandemic Era  

 VPN correspondent D.M Longgul seek to unravel why the academic staff will undertake such a project despite the lack of payment of about Nine months salary even while the strike is call-off, the branch chairperson, Comr. Dr LL Maigoro explained that ordinarily the government is supposed to take the responsibility of building capacity of lecturers by organizing seminars and others activities that will prepare the system for safe opening but the union whom many Nigerians see as the problem is still preparing and building capacities despite government reneging on existing agreements to pay members of academic staff for about Nine months to some and six to others.

VPN also gathered and reported that the Asuu Branch of Unijos had built a classroom and donate same to the administration of the university, while in the heydays of the covid-19 pandemic, the union also produce hand sanitisers and distributes to motor parks and government houses and other associations and parastatals of government.
