Death Toll Rises to 12 in Jos 3-Storey Building Collapse

As Rescue operation continue after the collapse of a three storey building belonging to Alh. Kabiru Nalele at Sarkin Street in Jos North LGA, Plateau State, about 12 dead bodies have so far been recovered including that of the owner of the collapsed building.

A reporter of Viewpoint Nigeria was at the scene and reported that rescue operation was still ongoing.

At the time of filing this report, the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Prof. Sonni Tyoden had visited the scene where he described the incident as sad and unfortunate.

The PDP Gubernatorial Candidate, Sen. J. T. Useni has also visited the scene and called on the people to ensure they use quality materials to build and stick to specifications provided by experts. He said the unfortunate situation was heart wrecking.

Meanwhile, The Senator Plateau North, Barr. Dr. I. D. Gyang has expressed serious concern, condoled and empathized with the families of the casualties and the entire community over the collapsed building.
Sen. I. D. Gyang described the disaster as an unfortunate incident and also called for attention by regulatory agencies like the JMDB to ensure that all property developers comply with the required and applicable standards to avoid similar occurrence in future.

The Transition Committee Chairman Jos North LGC, Hon. Philip Nyam Arin and the Plateau State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) confirmed that not fewer than 12 persons died in the collapsed building.
