COVID-19 Lockdown: Plateau intercepts J5 Wagon Car, Arraigns 12 Travellers

Security agencies saddled with the responsibility of enforcing Monday to Wednesday lockdown in Plateau State have intercepted 12 travellers mostly Youths in a J5 wagon from Lagos to Bauchi State.

The driver of the J5 Wagon car with registration (AAA751XP) who gave his name as Mohammed Ahmed, age 25 claimed he was coming from Owerri Imo State where he transported goats to the market.

Our correspondent gathered that both the driver and the travellers were coming from Lagos state after beaten all the security agencies at various checkpoints in the State.

Mustapha Ahmed one of the Eleven travellers who were stock inside car without ventilation said they were coming from a Farm in Nasarawa State and the driver picked them on the way to Ningi in Bauchi State.

Meanwhile the Commissioner of Housing in Plateau State Barr. Bitrus Zulfa who immediately visited the point where the travelers were aprehended commended the Security agencies and the vigilantes located at Plateau Radio and Television Junction for their proactive step to aprehend the travelers.

“We in Plateau State are working hard towards ensuring that we curtail the pandemic and we will not allowed people coming into the State who are not on essential services and without any pass”

He directed that the security agencies should take them to the mobile court to be charged for the violation of the Plateau State government order of lockdown in the state.

Zulfa added that Plateau State is ready to deal with travellers who think they can violate the state order on lockdown and ban on interstate.
