The year 2020 has introduced a new normal with the experience of the coronavirus pandemic that also included a lockdown. This has altered relationships, businesses and networking, presenting a need for a global attention to stay together. Therefore, the time to be more humane is now. This spurred me to take action in meeting the needs of students at Borstal Training Institute, who are isolated from the outside world, and are now more likely to be forgotten by a world trying to pick up itself.

BENEFITS OF THE PROJECT TO THE COMMUNITY
This project seeks to achieve the following at its completion:
(1) To address the health challenges and setbacks currently experienced by juveniles or that may arise in the correctional center.
(2) To encourage Juveniles to fully embrace the reformative programmes carried out by Borstal Training Institute.
(3) To build the self- esteem of the young ones by making them understand that they are a significant part of the society, inspire them to find a purpose so as to give back value to the community.
(4) To change the perception of the Public over wrong attitudes towards the residents of the institute.
(5) To drive more philanthropic attention to the dire need of resuscitation of the institute.

The Community Development Service (CDS) is one of the cardinal programmes of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), which is geared towards enabling corps members to contribute positively to the development of their host communities throughout their national service year. It is under this umbrella that I am motivated to carry out this project.

This project is borne out of a passion to help juveniles gain roots downward by intentionally gaining consciousness of their self-worth, believing and walking victoriously in the reality of their God-given potentials in life, through mindset transitioning and empowerment.
