$350 million loan was taken by Lalong for potato project, with nothing to show –Solomon Dalung

Barr Solomon Dalung the immediate past minister of youths and sports has levelled allegations of financial impropriety against the Plateau State government.

Dalung made the allegations while speaking at the ViewPointNigeria webinar discussion today Thursday 24th September 2020, that the Plateau State Government took a loan worth $350 million (N140 billion) from the African Development Bank (payable over a 25 years period), for the development of Plateau’s potato value chain.

He said “$350 million ($140 billion) was approved for the Plateau state government by the Federal Executive Council for the purpose of the potato value chain. I was a serving minister at the time, so I was part of that approval –but to date, no single value chain development of potato can been or verified. And so I ask the question, where is the infrastructure or the monies?”

“We as citizens have to ask question, else our grand children will become slaves in their own lands, since people are eating the futures of our grand children today”.

He lambasted the exclusive governance style of PLSG, saying that they have shut-out and excluded many individuals who worked and laboured with them.

In response, the host of ViewPointNigeria acknowledged the points raised by Dalung and said they will pose the question to the Hon Commissioner of Information, Dan Manjang who will be speaking at the event in the next 2 weeks.

The ViewPointNigeria team has also started to put machineries on ground to investigate the allegations raised by Barrister Solomon Dalung and shall go to the ASTC centre in Mangu to validate the state of infrastucture installed etc.
